The Public Breastfeeding Awareness Project (#PBAP2016) was in full swing once again in early August for its third year celebrating World Breastfeeding Week! I joined founder Leilani Rogers and about 40 other photographers to help create beautiful and real images of women breastfeeding in public. This should be normal. Breastfeeding in public really shouldn't need a special project to help normalize the idea of naturally feeding a hungry baby. But the reality is breastfeeding in public isn't always seen as the norm, and it's not always seen as natural.
Thanks so much to Big Grove Brewery in Solon, Iowa, for hosting our group of breastfeeding mommas and for being super-awesome! When I asked a local breastfeeding group what businesses were truly breastfeeding friendly, Big Grove was at the top of the list, and they really were awesome to work with. Thanks also to Birth, Baby & Beyond in Cedar Rapids for hosting us at their weekly summer park event! It's so much fun to get together with the BB&B gals, and I think everyone enjoyed their time at the park. Lastly, a huge thanks to all of the wonderful moms, siblings and babies who participated in the project this year! Hope to see many of you again next year!
