The Public Breastfeeding Awareness Project (#PBAP2015) was in full swing once again in early August for its second year celebrating World Breastfeeding Week! I joined founder Leilani Rogers and about 40 other photographers to help create beautiful and real images of women breastfeeding in public. This should be normal. Breastfeeding in public really shouldn't need a special project to help normalize the idea of naturally feeding a hungry baby. But the reality is breastfeeding in public isn't always seen as the norm, and it's not always seen as natural.
This year, I was able to photograph several moms in the Newbo area of Cedar Rapids, including Brewhemia and in front of Newbo City Market, as well as a group of moms from Birth, Baby & Beyond at Thomas Park in Marion! We even took a session to the Cedar Rapids Kernels baseball game, and a couple were done at a recent conference in Grapevine, TX. Thank you to Tammy at BB&B who helped coordinate most of the sessions, and to all of the wonderful moms, dads, siblings and babies who participated in the project! Hope to see many of you again next year!
