Public Breastfeeding Awareness Project 2016

September 14, 2016  •  Leave a Comment

The Public Breastfeeding Awareness Project (#PBAP2016) was in full swing once again in early August for its third year celebrating World Breastfeeding Week! I joined founder Leilani Rogers and about 40 other photographers to help create beautiful and real images of women breastfeeding in public.  This should be normal.  Breastfeeding in public really shouldn't need a special project to help normalize the idea of naturally feeding a hungry baby. But the reality is breastfeeding in public isn't always seen as the norm, and it's not always seen as natural.

Thanks so much to Big Grove Brewery in Solon, Iowa, for hosting our group of breastfeeding mommas and for being super-awesome! When I asked a local breastfeeding group what businesses were truly breastfeeding friendly, Big Grove was at the top of the list, and they really were awesome to work with.  Thanks also to Birth, Baby & Beyond in Cedar Rapids for hosting us at their weekly summer park event!
It's so much fun to get together with the BB&B gals, and I think everyone enjoyed their time at the park.  Lastly, a huge thanks to all of the wonderful moms, siblings and babies who participated in the project this year!  Hope to see many of you again next year!

Got a nice camera but don't know how to use it to its full potential? Interested in photography but could stand to learn a few things? New Creation's Digital Photography 101 class is for you! Join us on Saturday, June 11th from 9am-4pm for a class that will help you make the most out of your camera and improve your photos.

Let's face it: you need this class! You've got a nice camera, but it's stuck on "auto". Your camera is controlling you, but you need to be controlling it if you want to take the very best photos! So, clear your calendar and sign up today. Get a friend to sign up too and learn together. I promise you will be a better photographer when you leave, and you'll have a great time too!

We will start by exploring camera features, aperature, shutter speed, exposure, depth of field, lenses, composition and other elements of photography. Then, we'll take what we've learned and put it to the test, actually taking photos, uploading them, sharing them with others, and maybe even doing some light Photoshop work to them. If there’s time we'll conclude with some ideas of how to creatively get those great photos from computer to print.

If you are a photo enthusiast, scrapbooker, nature lover, or mom who wants great pictures of her kids, this class is for you! Just $200 includes lunch and 7 hours of instruction and practice. The workshop will be held at my studio in Shueyville, IA.

Go to https://tave.com/newcreationphotography and select “Digital Photography 101” as the session type or call 319-841-2071 to register or get more information! Space is very limited, so act quickly!

$50 deposit is non-refundable and guarantees your spot in the June 11th workshop. The remaining $150 balance will be due via cash or check on the day of the workshop. Must have 6 registered or class may be postponed (in which case deposits would be refunded!).

I'm pretty sure that all NCP clients have been there at some point.  You know, when you are trying to select your favorite images from your recent session, but you LOVE THEM ALL!  How do you select just a few for final edits when you really, really WANT. THEM. ALL!?!?!

Well, I'm going to try to help you out.  Now, when you love 'em all, you can get them all! The "Love 'em All!" option is available as an add-on to your originally-purchased package.  What you'll get (in addition to the full-resolution, fully-edited images that you've purchased with your package) is ALL of the proofs you were given, as low-resolution files with a special "PROOF" watermark.  These images won't be fully edited...but they'll look just like your proofs, just with the added watermark. You'll have your very own "Love 'em All" gallery from which you can download all of your images, and they are printable up to 4"x6".

How many will there be?  The same amount as proofs you were given.  In a lot of cases, there will be 100 images or more, depending on the length of your session.  How much will they cost?  The add-on price for "Love 'em All" is $300.  But if you order the add-on option at the time of your session, I'll knock $50 off of that price!  That's right, you'll get dozens and dozens of these special proof files for just $250!

So don't let those images go unseen!  Adorable crying images?  They're yours.  Picking his nose?  Save it for her graduation party! Funny faces? Show the world!  Just plain silly?  You'll get them all with "Love 'em All"!!

Love 'em All: Not perfect, just precious!

Public Breastfeeding Awareness Project 2015

The Public Breastfeeding Awareness Project (#PBAP2015) was in full swing once again in early August for its second year celebrating World Breastfeeding Week!

This year, I was able to photograph several moms in the Newbo area of Cedar Rapids, including Brewhemia and in front of Newbo City Market, as well as a group of moms from Birth, Baby & Beyond at Thomas Park in Marion!
We even took a session to the Cedar Rapids Kernels baseball game, and a couple were done at a recent conference in Grapevine, TX. Thank you to Tammy at BB&B who helped coordinate most of the sessions, and to all of the wonderful moms, dads, siblings and babies who participated in the project!  Hope to see many of you again next year!
